Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 131 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Duke informs Sting, Gray, and Wendy that he transmutes the human body. Initially, he trained under Elefseria as a wizard, but left to become an alchemist. Athena was his first human transmutation and he considers her his greatest creation even though Gennai and Kotetsu are improvements. After Athena betrayed Duke at some point in the past, Duke only recently re-aquired her. Duke wants to make Athena’s dream of becoming human a reality.

Elsewhere, Athena attacks with laser beam eyes. To her surprise, Sting consumes the laser beams.

In the remote cabin, Erza and Jellal still struggle in the photo. They find themselves out and the old man in when Minerva shows up and swaps them. Erza and Minerva start interrogating the old man, who claims to not know much. They are interrupted when Gold Owl members (and sisters) Ennie and Luso Signario. Luso uses her alchemy to transmute the room around them.

Thoughts/Review:

We got a lot more exposition than I expected in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 131. Because I’m not sure exactly how the alchemy system works in this series, I don’t exactly know what human transmutation means. I imagine that Duke takes a mannequin of some sort and creates a humanoid. However, Athena looks like an android. So maybe he made a mechanical body, but alchemy somehow gave her “life”? Hopefully we’ll find out.

Speaking of Athena, I chuckled when she unleashed with laser beams out of her eyes. It reminded me of stuff I watched as a kid where some robot entity used its eyes to fire laser beams. Oh, and Superman as well. Nevertheless, I didn’t expect Sting to eat said laser beams. 😂 I had to look up his power, and since he’s a White Dragon Slayer, he can eat white laser beams.

Finally, there’s Minerva’s rescue of Erza and Jellal. Naturally, they are going to get opponents to fight as well in the form of the Signario sisters. As a result, we have three fights either set up or in progress. Obviously, our heroes will win. But I’m too tired to speculate on how that might happen.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, we get a fair amount of exposition in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 131. But we also have a cool fight with Athena, and we are setting up a new fight with a pair of sisters. Could be fun.
